CWO Sam Cateni

Cadet Chief Warrant Officer Samuel Cateni started his cadet career with # 102 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps in Sarnia, Ontario, enrolling in October of 2012. He was promoted to Trooper in March 2013 and to corporal in July 2013. He attended the General Training course at Blackdown Cadet Summer Training Center at CFB Borden in August 2013. He was promoted to Master Corporal in June 2014 and attended the three Week Basic Expedition Course at Blackdown in July – August 2014. He was promoted to Sergeant in June 2015 and attended the six week Expedition Instructor Course in July and August 2015. He was promoted to Warrant Officer in June 2016 and attended Blackdown as a Staff Cadet in a General Training Company in July- August 2016. He transferred to # 2563 First Hussars Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps in March 2017 and was subsequently promoted to Master Warrant Officer in April 2017. He has served as a Section Commander and Troop Commander, and is currently appointed as the Squadron Sergeant Major of # 2563. He has attended the Phase Five Master Cadet Workshop in October of 2016, and was appointed a Master Cadet in April 2017. He was selected to attend a Regional Expedition in February 2017, Exercise Northern Extreme, practicing cold weather survival skills. He has been a member of # 102’s and # 2563’s Rifle and Drill Teams. His awards and qualifications include Best Silver Star for # 102 in June 2014 and Best Attendance for # 102 in June 2016.He was awarded the Army Cadet League Four Year Service Medal in October 2016 and level four of the National Star Certification in October 2017.. He has also achieved the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award program Bronze level of achievement in March 2017. His qualifications include Standard First Aid, Excellence Level of Fitness, and he is a Distinguished Marksman. He has participated in Advanced Training during the summers of 2016 and 2017 as a Staff Cadet at Cadet Training Center Blackdown, as a Section Commander in General Training then Basic Expedition. He was appointed Regimental Sergeant Major in December 2017.
